Delegation of Authority

In their capacity as managers of the office and FAO’s activities in the country, FAO Representatives have a certain level of delegated authority.  In particular:

Procurement of goods and services, and Letters of Agreement

The current level of delegation of authority to FAO Representatives is as follows:

  • USD 100,000 for the procurement of goods and services;
  • USD 100,000 for Letters of Agreement.

For full information on the rules and procedures of the Organization, you may wish to refer to Manual Section 502 for the procurement of goods and services and to Manual Section 507 for Letters of Agreement.

Human resources

FAO Representatives also have authority to sign personnel contracts for national consultants and National Project Personnel (NPP, reference Manual Section 375).  International consultants are, on the other hand, recruited through the relevant FAO Shared Services Centre.

Leave and travel

Guidance on the approval of leave and travel of FAO Representatives and other staff of the FAO Representation can be found here.

N.B.  General guidelines on delegation authority within the different levels of the Organization can be found in Manual Section 119.  (to be also included on the right hand bar)
