The Gateway to Decentralized Offices

Have you ever wondered how COIN can help you in your work?

COIN is an organization-wide information system that gathers structures and processes publicly available country information on all Decentralized Offices. The system has been active since 2001. COIN’s repository is accessible to all staff (including Permanent  Representatives) once logged in, you will find a wide range of information that combines updated data by Field Offices and extracts from existing corporate applications, such as data warehouse and FPMIS. COIN also draws its information from other various sources on a regular basis, thus providing constantly refreshed and reliable data.

Looking for country data? The country tab provides you with comprehensive data such as the security situation, currency information, pouch schedule, DSA rates, government ministerial lists , the list of country visitors, etc.

Looking for a decentralized office? Use our interactive map FAO buildings in the world to locate FAO offices and access the detailed information of all premises (including Green House Gas emission data) in the Facilities Management module.

Want to know the evolution of the programme? The FAOR Documents Report module gives you access to the latest inception, annual and terminal reports.  In addition, it houses informational country bulletins.

Need to contact a Country Office or an FAO Representative? The Office Contacts module gives you all the necessary contact information to reach FAO Decentralized Offices and their staff, while the Heads of Office (directory & absences) module offers the list of all FAORs by Region, tells you if the FAOR is absent, provides you with his/her Skype address and much more.

Is the FAOR currently visiting headquarters? Consult the Visitors/FAORs Briefing schedule.

COIN workflows – creating efficiencies

What people often do not know about COIN is its significant role in the streamlining and automation of administrative and budgetary processes for Field Offices. For example, provision of:

  • a secure corporate transaction delivery system for FAORs’ administrative and budgetary processes, and
  • tailor-made working and monitoring tools such as the Budget Management module that allows FAORs to monitor their yearly allotments, and to prepare and submit their Periodic Budgetary Reports (PBRs) on-line.

The in-depth knowledge base for field office requirements and technological know-how have led to close cooperation and support through GRMS. For example, COIN is hosting the disposal requests for all field assets equipment.

COIN continues to evolve to maintain its role of assisting Decentralized Offices in “translating strategic objectives into concrete results”.
