Uniforms
Latest update: 27/01/2015

There is no official position regarding the purchase of uniforms for drivers and guards in country offices.  Each office has its own local practices and the decision to purchase uniforms should consider the local situation (harmonization with the practice adopted by the majority of the local UN agencies is however recommended).  Ultimately the decision is with the FAO Representative based on availability of funds and other considerations.

If it is decided to procure uniforms, the following guidance can allow to determine what is reasonable taking into consideration the varying climatic conditions, social habits and local practices. The quality and thickness of material (heavier or lighter) should be determined locally or as decided jointly with the UN Operations Management Team (OMT), as appropriate.

In line with the practice followed at Headquarters, drivers and guards may be supplied with the items listed below. The FAOR should, however, follow local practice.

Summer:  one every two years
Winter: one every two years
