director-general's bulletin DATE: 28 March 2019 No. 2019/11 SUB-REGIONAL COORDINATOR FOR THE CARIBBEAN (SLC) I have appointed Ms Renata Clarke Sub-regional Coordinator for the Caribbean (SLC), effective 29 April 2019. Ms Clarke, a national of Canada, holds a Ph.D. in Food Science and Technology from the Technical University of Nova Scotia, Halifax, Canada, a Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Guelph, Canada and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies, Bridgetown, Barbados. Ms Clarke started her career in 1984 teaching A level Chemistry at Barbados Community College and then joined the National Science and Technology Council, Bridgetown Barbados where she worked from 1987 to 1990 as a Food Science Project Officer. Between 1990 and 1991 she worked at the Barbados Agricultural Development Corporation as a Food Technologist. Ms Clarke joined FAO in 1995 and worked as a Food Science and Technology Consultant with the Food and Nutrition Division until 1999 when she was appointed Food Safety and Quality Officer and in 2008, she was nominated Officer-in-Charge, Food Control and Consumer Protection Group. In 2010, she was appointed Head, Food Safety and Quality Unit in the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department where she has been responsible for leading the programme of food safety capacity development and for providing oversight to the FAO Food Safety Scientific Advice Programme which underpins Codex standard setting.
