MUCAVI, MS CARLA ELISA LUIS
Ms Mucavi, a national of Mozambique, holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the Institute for Higher Studies in International Relations, Maputo, Mozambique and a Master’s degree in Cooperation and Development Planning from the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy. Ms Mucavi started her career in 1989 as Attaché in the Division for International Organizations and Conferences, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Mozambique. Since then she has progressively held positions of increasing responsibility as follows: First Secretary at the Embassy of Mozambique in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Chief of Cabinet of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mozambique, Chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of Mozambique in Italy, Rome, Counsellor at the Embassy of Mozambique in Italy and Alternate Permanent Representative to FAO, WFP and IFAD, Rome, Counsellor in charge of Nordic countries in the Division for Europe and America, Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Maputo, Deputy Director of State Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maputo. Her recent assignments include Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mozambique to Italy, Greece and Malta, and Permanent Representative to FAO, WFP and IFAD, Rome, and also non-resident Ambassador to Turkey. During 2013 she chaired the African Regional Group of Permanent Representatives in Rome. Ms Carla Mucavi succeeds Ms Sharon Brennen-Haylock as Director, Liaison Office with the United Nations (LON) in New York.
