FAO Activities in Rwanda
Currently, FAO is working with the following activities in Rwanda:
1) Technical Cooperation Programme (TCP) Projects
- Rationalization of the wood-energy sector
- Integrated pest management (IPM) of rice by farmer field school (FFS)
- Regional support to alleviate the impact of soaring food prices on the most affected vulnerable farming populations of the Eastern African Region
2) Regional Development Projects
- Urban and peri-urban agriculture project (PAPUK)
- Improvement of Food Security in Cross Border Districts of Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda in Support of Modernization of Agriculture under NEPAD Framework”
- CountrySTAT for Sub-Saharan Africa.
- Transboundary Agro-Ecosystem Management project for the Kagera River Basin (Kagera TAMP)
3) ONE UN Projects (Jointly with other UN agencies)
- Development of school gardens and nutritional education.
- Implementation of the component “Crop and market monitoring” of an early warning system for the food and agriculture sector.
- Agricultural training, nutrition and distribution of inputs to people living with HIV/AIDS
4) Emergency Projects
- Humanitarian emergency aids to repatriates from Tanzania
- Emergency support to floods victims
- Regional response to food insecurity, HIV and GBV in Eastern Africa
- To support the implementation of the ‘Avian Influenza Response Programme’ through the ‘Special Fund for Emergency and Rehabilitation Activities (SFERA)’ in the countries affected by the epizooty.
- Support to repatriates from RDC, with agricultural inputs and training

Donors
Being a specialized agency, FAO is dependent upon contributions from bi and multilateral donors. Currently the following donors are supporting FAO activities in Rwanda.
