Mozambique
Projects
Most of the projects on-going in Mozambique are financed by trust funds from donor Countries including the Government of Mozambique, the UN One fund and to a certain extent by FAO. It should be remembered that FAO is not a funding institution and therefore provides the technical assistance only after the approval of the funding from various sources for the projects it designed.
On the other hand, although FAO in not a funding agency, it does mobilize some funds from its own budget to carry out simple and short term projects under a Technical Cooperation Programme. The TCP programme aims to provide FAO´s technical expertise to its member countries through targeted short term catalyst projects intended to support entities (institutions, organizations, farmers associations and woman´s groups, etc) identified as target beneficiaries by the requesting National Government or Regional Organization. These projects address technical problems in the field of agriculture, fisheries, forestry and rural livelihood that prevent member countries from implementing their development programs. TCP projects aim to fill critical technical gaps by providing technical inputs (in the form of short-term expert consultants services, short term practical oriented training, equipment and supplies related mainly to training necessary to reach the project goals) that are not available locally or that project beneficiaries cannot access through their own means or through the local support system.
