  • Transboundary animal diseases control and surveillance
  • Food safety capacity building
  • Locust control

 Emergency TCP Projects

Emergency projects for the provision of agricultural inputs to locust-, drought-, flood- and landslide-affected farming households were implemented in Georgia in 1998, 2001, 2002 and 2005.

An emergency TCP project for control and surveillance of African Swine Fever in Georgia is on-going.

Donor-funded Projects

Following the August 2008 military conflict in Georgia, FAO emergency activities include the provision of various agricultural inputs to conflict affected farming households and IDPs aimed at improving rural livelihoods in the Shida Kartli region. These projects are funded by Governments of the USA and Italy.

In addition, FAO implements EC-funded programme for Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) surveillance and control in the buffer zones of the country.
