National Projects
There have also been several initiatives to develop extension services and farmer and producer organizations aimed at women and smallholders, and to promote safe use of pesticides through registration and IPM.
Other important projects include the development of the Department of Agriculture at Faculty of Science and Agriculture at the University of the Gambia and strengthening post-harvest management and agricultural credit services - especially for the youths and women.

Objective: This project aims at building a solid educational basis for nutrition education in schools by providing technical assistance in curriculum development, teacher training and material preparation, and by strengthening the education sector’s capacity to implement effective nutrition education in the years to come. - Sustainable Aquaculture Systems
Objective: The objective of this strategy is to build a framework to develop the sector of aquaculture in the country for diversification of livelihoods in rural areas, improved nutritional status, increased income-generating capacity, as well as provision of additional off-season activities through enhanced land and water resources utilization. - Support to the National Forest Programme
Objective: The development objective of the project is to build a permanent and functional data base and to review the legislative frameworks that would ensure the sustainable management of The Gambian forests and thus would contribute to improved livelihoods of the rural population. The project will also build the capacity of Forestry Department personnel and other involved stakeholders to sustainable manage the forests and improve the monitoring systems in place. It will also be very necessary for the issue of technological transfer and advice to the forestry administration. - Input supply to Vulnerable Populations Under the Initiative on Soaring Food Prices (ISFP)
Objective: To protect those most vulnerable to food price shocks from nutritional deprivation resulting in acute malnutrition and loss of livelihoods, by increasing domestic supply of rice. The project aims at saving human lives by increasing productivity and minimizing crop losses. Specifically to ensure access to agricultural inputs (seeds and tools) and to increase agricultural production capacity; and to increase self-sufficiency in food security in the country.
