Mr José Francisco GRAZIANO DA SILVA
Mr Graziano Da Silva, a national of Brazil, is a graduate in agronomy and holds an M.Sc. in Rural Social Sciences from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. He also holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), São Paulo, Brazil. He undertook post-graduate studies on Latin America at the University of London, UK, and post-graduate studies on the Environment at the University of California, USA. Between 1978 and 2002, Mr Graziano Da Silva was Lecturer at the Institute of Economics of the State University of Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil. Between 2003 and 2004 he served as Special Minister of State for Food Security and the Fight Against Hunger of the Federal Government of Brazil. In 2002 he was appointed Senior Adviser on the Economy and Social Affairs to the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil. He has written numerous publications on agricultural topics. Mr Graziano Da Silva succeeds Mr G. Gordillo de Anda as Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Latin America and the Caribbean.
