IMIR, MR MUSTAFA
Mr Imir, a national of Turkey, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ankara, Turkey, a Certificate in Animal Science and Farm Management from the University of Minnesota, U.S.A., a Master of Science degree in Farm Management from the University of Reading, United Kingdom and a Ph.D. in Animal Nutrition from the Selçuk University Health Sciences Institute, Konya, Turkey. Mr Imir started his career in 1978 as State Veterinarian in Trabzon and Kahramanmaras, Turkey. From 1985 to 1987, he was Director of the Control Division in the Provincial Agriculture Directorate of Kahramanmaras, Turkey. In 1988, he started working for the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ankara, Turkey in different areas of increasing responsibilities, first as Veterinarian in the General Directorate of Protection and Control and then, in 1989, as European Community Expert in the Foreign Relations and EU Coordination Department in the same Ministry. In 1993, he was nominated Deputy Director-General in the General Directorate of Protection and Control. From 1995, he worked as Veterinarian for the External Relations and EU Coordination Department and, in 2000, became Ministerial Advisor at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. In 2002, he was appointed Agriculture Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Turkey to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva, Switzerland. From 2007 to 2011, he served as Head of the External Relations and EU Coordination Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ankara. Following the reorganization of the Ministry of Food Agriculture and Livestock of the Republic of Turkey, he became the Acting Director-General of the General Directorate of EU and External Relations, Ankara. Mr Imir joined FAO in September 2011 as FAO Representative in Indonesia.
